Meet
OSHA Requirements
OSHA requires that valve owners document each
inspection and test that has been performed on pressure safety relief
valves, including the date of the inspection or test, the name of the
person who performed the inspection or test, the serial number or other
identifier of the equipment on which the inspection or test was
performed, a description of the inspection or test performed, and the
results of the inspection or test. Valv-Keep II™ not only gives you
all of these fields for current and historical data, it allows us to
sort the data and create reports for our customers as well.
OSHA inspectors are being directed to ask relief valve owners a number
of questions, some of which are as follows:
- - How many PSV's are overdue for service?
- - Do your inspection/test records include the name of the person
conducting the tests, not just the name of the organization
performing them?
- - Do you have a list of all protected equipment?
- - How do you manage and maintain pressure relieving devices?
- - Is there a paper trail for all follow-up inspections, repairs and
recommendations indicating how and when work was completed?
- - Does all equipment have relief protection?
- - How often do you inspect and is any equipment or relief device
overdue for inspection/service?
- - Are you using preventative maintenance instead of
"breakdown" maintenance?
- - What is your quality assurance program for new equipment and for
maintenance repairs and are there records indicating compliance?
Many of the features in Valv-Keep II™ were specifically designed to
answer most of these questions with the click of a mouse, letting you
quickly address your inspector's needs in minutes instead of days.
OSHA is aggressively enforcing their standards, significantly increasing
and publicizing fines. Compliance with OSHA guidelines for Process
Safety Management is an area frequently visited by OSHA/EPA inspectors.
